I was intrigued because while I know that we are generally broader than people were years ago, I also know that we are taller, and those pews were made for someone with longer legs than mine! xMrs Tiggywinklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18262841220840086776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201916595736418385.post-33411799308327388992019-09-24T13:50:19.389+01:002019-09-24T13:50:19.389+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Mrs Tiggywinklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18262841220840086776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201916595736418385.post-11485892101918927182019-09-24T03:28:18.827+01:002019-09-24T03:28:18.827+01:00I think that if I lived in the UK I'd be as en...I think that if I lived in the UK I'd be as enamoured as you are about visiting old churches. They were, for so long, central to the village community. I love reading posts about them. It is sad that it's no longer used as a church. I wonder if people had smaller backsides years ago. Just my weird thought!Lorriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03653026442945027184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201916595736418385.post-55225625538091462222019-09-20T17:29:58.707+01:002019-09-20T17:29:58.707+01:00I like working out how a church has adapted in res...I like working out how a church has adapted in response to social change, although I'm a bit fed up with the unsympathetic Victorian restorations which did away with so many original fittings. That has made me think twice about current church modernisations. xMrs Tiggywinklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18262841220840086776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-201916595736418385.post-78212735089798980142019-09-20T08:35:34.875+01:002019-09-20T08:35:34.875+01:00When there's an opportunity to go into an old ...When there's an opportunity to go into an old building or a church I right there! I like working out the different periods in time when parts have been constructed although it's better if some info is available. Maybe the high, uncomfortable seats were designed to stop you nodding off during the sermon. You made me laugh about the box pews, clearly church going wasn’t a comfortable matter in those days. Sad that it’s no longer used as a church. Have a good week.
