So Much To Read

Hello, thank you for calling it, it's lovely to see you here, although I'm a little embarrassed because I have almost nothing to share with you today.  I was planning to show you the books I have read so far this year - you might remember that last year I rediscovered my reading mojo and so set myself a target of twelve long books to read this year.  I have written another page about last year's books, really just for myself, to record the books I read because I was so proud of myself, and because more than half of those books have now left the building, but please feel free to have a peep if you'd like to.

So, I wrote a post about the books I have read so far and gathered them together to photograph them...except that I can't find one of them.  I know that I saw it in an unexpected place one day last week but I can't remember which unexpected place that was.  I have searched several unexpected places over the last couple of days but to no avail.  As I really can't bear to talk about my progress without showing you a photo of the rather satisfying pile, and I really can't bear to show you an incomplete pile, I'm afraid I can't do it.  Sorry, but it will have to wait until the book turns up (which I really do hope will be soon).  In the meantime, here is a photo of a little canvas which my eleven year-old nephew painted for me and gave to me at Christmas.  I just love it.

See you soon.
Love, Mrs Tiggywinkle x

  1. I know that feeling so well. You know something isn’t lost, but you can’t quite remember where it is! I look forward to your reading post very soon. I’m reading a lovely book by Kate Humble at the moment called Thinking on My Feet. A lovely book about walking. B x

  2. Your nephew's gift is wonderful, something to treasure. I know that feeling well, you spot something out of place when looking for something else and when you need it later you can't exactly remember where it was you saw it and then it resurfaces much later when you least expect it. Husband's reading glasses were found yesterday by a process of elimination and a bit of re-enactment of movemnts:)

    1. I do treasure it, Rosie. For as long as I can remember, my mother has always placed her glasses on the kitchen windowsill so that when she can't remember where she's put them, she knows where they will be! x

  3. What a lovely painting, and such an appropriate gift with your rediscovered love of reading. I'm always forgetting where I've put things, the house has been turned upside down looking for something on many occasions only for me to find the thing I'm looking for where I least expect it.

    1. I'm so glad it's not just me! It is such an appropriate gift, I reckon his mother helped him choose the theme. x

  4. What a joy the painting is. Hopefully you will find the book as usually happens in the most obvious place.

    1. I have found it now, but it really wasn't obvious. I must do better next time! x

  5. Ha ha I wonder where it is. Perhaps it's so good someone has borrowed it! x

    1. Sadly not, Karen, but at least I've found it now. x

  6. What a sweet painting. I hate the feeling of knowing I've seen something recently and can't put my hand on it in the moment. I just finished a Susanna Kearsley book - Seasons of Storms.

  7. That's so annoying when things go missing and you can not remember where you've put them. There's usually some bright spark who'll say 'well where did you last have it'... not helpful.

I usually go on goodreads.com (on my laptop) and click on a book front cover, then copy and paste straight into the draught post. I then simply make it smaller or bigger. I rarely photograph my actual books as it's awkward filling the frame.
All the best however you do it, Cathy x
